Oprah said that her father, Oprah, was a strong influence in her life. Winfrey stated that Winfrey believed that she could become more than what I was. His passion for learning led me down the right path. Her father was a great mentor and she made a positive change. A scholarship was awarded to her by the University of Tennessee State after she became an honours college student and rekindled her love of public speech, which she considered an asset.
